About this policy

This policy explains what personal information AGA Travel (Always Go Anywhere) collects through agatravel.co.uk and its email list, and how it is used. It applies to this website only.

If you have any questions about this policy or your information, please get in touch through the Contact page.

AGA Travel aims to follow UK data protection law, and only collects what is needed to run the site and community.

What information I collect

I only collect what I need to run the site and community.

What When Why
Name and email address You join my email list To send you emails you asked for: the welcome email, the free guide, tips and meetup dates
Name, email and your message You use the contact form To reply to you
Name, email, IP address and browser details You leave a comment, if comments are on To show your comment and prevent spam
Pages visited, device and approximate location You browse the site To understand which guides are useful and improve them. This is anonymised usage data from Google Analytics and Google Search Console
Your messages and handle You message me or join the WhatsApp community To run the community and reply to you

I don’t collect payment details. If you buy something through an affiliate link, the purchase happens on the other company’s website.

My email list

When you sign up, I use your name and email address to send you emails about solo female travel, life in Thailand, Bangkok meetups and, in future, group trips. Your consent is my legal basis for this.

My emails are sent through Kit (kit.com), which stores your details and records whether you open and click my emails so I can see what is useful. Kit may process data outside the UK; see Kit’s privacy policy.

The free Solo Travel Confidence Guide is optional. If you ask for it, I note that you did so, so I can send it to you and follow up about it.

You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe button at the bottom of every email, or by getting in touch through the Contact page. I’ll remove you from the list straight away. I never sell or rent my list.

Affiliate links

Some links on this site and in my emails are affiliate links. If you book or buy through them, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. I only recommend things I use or would use myself, and commission never changes what I write.

I use partners including Travelpayouts, Amazon Associates, Booking.com, GetYourGuide, Viator, Klook, Airalo, SafetyWing and Wise. When you click an affiliate link, that company may set cookies to record that I referred you. What they then do with your data is covered by their own privacy policies, not this one.

You can read more in my affiliate disclosure.

Cookies and embedded content

This site uses cookies, which are small files stored on your device.

  • Necessary cookies keep the site working, for example WordPress session cookies and security settings.
  • Analytics cookies show me anonymised usage data so I can improve the site.
  • Affiliate cookies are set by partner companies when you click an affiliate link.

The site also shows content from other services, including my Instagram and TikTok feeds, and Facebook, Instagram and TikTok links. These services may set their own cookies and collect data when their content loads or when you click through. I don’t control this; see each service’s own privacy policy.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the site may not work properly if you do.

Sharing, keeping and protecting your data

I don’t sell your personal data. I share it only with the services that help me run the site and community:

  • Kit, to send my emails.
  • My website host, which stores the site and its data.
  • My analytics and email-form tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console and the site’s contact form.

Some of these providers are based outside the UK, including in the USA. Where that happens, I rely on safeguards such as the UK’s approved transfer mechanisms.

I keep your email address for as long as you stay subscribed, and delete it when you unsubscribe or ask me to. Contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry. Comments stay until you ask me to remove them.

The site uses HTTPS, and I keep WordPress and its plugins updated. No online service is completely secure, so I can’t guarantee absolute security.

Your rights and getting in touch

Depending on where you live, data protection law may give you rights over your personal information, such as asking to see, correct or delete it, or withdrawing your consent (for example by unsubscribing). To make a request, please get in touch through the Contact page.

If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your data, please tell me first so I can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

I may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed.
